Forget buffalo wings and seven-layer dips! (Unless they’re vegan, yo!) This Superbowl Sunday, why not revisit Vegan Pizza Day by whipping up one of these delicious, cruelty-free pies? Slap some Daiya on top, and the otherwise occupied omnivores aren’t even likely to notice. That sound? I do believe it’s a two-point conversion for Team Vegan. (Yeah, I googled that term. What of it?) Nom!

Contests! Here’s a sampling of the vegan swag you could win this week: Alicia Silverstone is giving away a complete set of her 2010 ecoTOOLS collection; vegansaurus! has a copy of The Complete Guide to Vegan Food Substitutions up for grabs; and last but not least, upload a photo of your furkid to Leaping Bunny’s Facebook wall, and you could win a gift bag from Badger Balm.
Spay & Neuter Kansas City’s weekly recap is up! Also, SNKC is trying to raise funds for Diamond, a sweet girl who suffered an injury when her leg became tangled in a tie-out. Her people can’t afford the cost of treatment, and she may need to have the leg amputated. Remember, don’t tether your dogs outside unsupervised or for long periods of time, and definitely don’t leave them outside at all in this cold, snowy weather! (SNKC reports that it will be working with Diamond’s owners to find alternatives to chaining going forward.)
Hey hey, it’s World Nutella Day! Celebrate by buying a vegan version or making your own. All of the chocolatey goodness, none of the rape and baby murder!
On that note, let’s part ways with this heartwarming video from Farm Sanctuary. Blitzen, Lawrence and Alexander’s Welcome Home tells the story of three male dairy calves rescued from a stockyard in New York. The three babies were sickly and required medical care at Cornell University before they could be relocated to Farm Sanctuary’s New York Shelter (which I will visit one day, I swear!).
